Have you ever wondered what it is like to become an Air Traffic Controller?

Take control of the virtual skies to ensure the Safe, Orderly and Expeditious flow of aircraft movement in the Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR) and work together with a high-trained team of online professionals.

Trainees will undergo a series of training and tests to ensure that the requirements laid out by the VATSIM Global Rating Policy is met as well as to local procedures which includes a challenging tight and congested airspace.

Requirements

Requirements of SINvACC

To be part of the Singapore vACC ATC Team, you are required to:

  1. Be able to speak good english

  2. Be a teamplayer

  3. Understand the local procedures in the vACC

  4. Be able to handle mental pressure

  5. Adapt to unusual situation

  6. Have a good working microphone

  7. Be able to commit for training

  8. Be personally responsible for your training progress 

 

Training

Training Procedures of SINvACC

New Resident Controllers will first undergo the Student 1 (S1) theory examination to attain their S1 rating followed by the Basic Air Traffic Control Course (BAC) which will develop and enhance your basic understanding of being an Air Traffic Controller.

Students will undergo 8 training modules, after which a theory examination will take place.

Upon completion of the BAC, a personal mentor will be assigned to you as your to-go through your journey as a Virtual Air Traffic Controller.

 

Resident Controller

Follow the steps below to join us for localized training. You may check if intake is open for resident controllers at the top of this page.

 

Step 1

Register a VATSIM Account: https://cert.vatsim.net/vatsimnet/signup.html

Select “Asia-Pacific” followed by “Southeast Asia (VATSEA)” during registration.

If you already have an account, proceed to step 2

 

Step 2

Proceed to the VATSEA HQ.

Step 3

  • Open a Support Ticket to Singapore vACC Staff

  • Insert your ticket title  as  “ATC Application”.

  • Answer the following questions in your application. Applications without any of the following information will automatically be rejected.

  1. Real-world Occupation

  2. Any real-world aviation experience (work/studies)?

  3. Why do you wish to join Singapore vACC as a controller? Please write more about yourself to help us understand your interest to join us. Single-lined answers will not be accepted.

  4. How much time per month can you commit to the training provided by SINvACC?

  5. Time-zone of residence

  6. As part of the Conflict of Interest Declaration process, please declare if you have or had any social relationships with anyone in SINvACC? (Y/N). If yes, please advise your relationship. 

Note that this does not allow you to control just yet. Training must be completed.

Visitor Controller

Step 1

Proceed to the VATSEA HQ.

Step 2

  • Open a Support Ticket to Singapore vACC Staff

  • Insert your ticket title  as  “ATC Visiting Application”.

  • Answer the following questions in your application. Applications without any of the following information will automatically be rejected.

  1. What is your residing vACC?

  2. Why do you wish to join Singapore vACC as a controller? Please write more about yourself to help us understand your interest to join us. Single-lined answers will not be accepted.

  3. How much time per month can you commit to the training provided by SINvACC?

  4. Time-zone of residence

  5. As part of the Conflict of Interest Declaration process, please declare if you have or had any social relationships with anyone in SINvACC? (Y/N). If yes, please advise your relationship. 

Note that Visiting Controllers are required to have a rating of Senior Student (S3) or higher with a letter of recommendation by your vACC/Division Staff.
